On my birthday last year, Louise and I went away on a three-day silent retreat. This year on my birthday, Louise and I began the day in prayer, but our time with God was cut short. We allowed a laundry-list of things to change our priorities. It sounds like I\u2019m being too hard on myself, but I\u2019m not. I just sensed that I took time away from the one thing that makes \u201cMy Days\u201d better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s interesting how we can easily spend one hour in the gym, an hour doing our favorite hobby, an hour having lunch with a good friend, but we resist even a few minutes reading scripture, reflecting on God\u2019s word and asking Him how He wants us to apply the words He is speaking to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Accounting of God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Am I dedicating quality time each day to devote myself to prayer?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Absorbing God\u2019s Word \u201dDevote yourselves to prayer,\u00a0being watchful and thankful.\u201d Colossians 4:2-6 Applying God\u2019s Word I turned 76 last Wednesday.
