{"id":1041,"date":"2022-12-17T18:00:54","date_gmt":"2022-12-17T18:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1041"},"modified":"2022-12-17T18:00:54","modified_gmt":"2022-12-17T18:00:54","slug":"the-advocate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1041","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Advocate&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Absorbing God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut the Advocate,\u00a0the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,\u00a0will teach you all things\u00a0and will remind you of everything I have said to you.\u201d John 14:26<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was speaking at a retreat years ago and there was an artist in the back of the room doing a charcoal drawing that summarized the content of that presentation. At the end of the talk the artist held up a picture of Jesus talking with two fishermen. The talk was about answering Jesus\u2019 call to follow Him. The artist signed the back of the picture and wrote, \u201cHe took on the flesh so we could take on His Spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My friend Bob had the picture framed and gave it to me for my fiftieth birthday. It\u2019s been displayed in my home ever since. It\u2019s a constant reminder to me that God doesn\u2019t just call you and I once. He calls us to follow Him multiple times each and every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 14:12 says, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.\u201d&nbsp;Jesus took on the flesh for you and I so that we could be empowered by His \u201cAdvocate\u201d to continue Jesus\u2019 work. It\u2019s not easy and yet our \u201cYes\u201d to His call can produce miraculous results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Accounting of God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How strong is my \u201cYes\u201d to follow Jesus.
