{"id":1075,"date":"2023-04-29T23:51:35","date_gmt":"2023-04-29T23:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1075"},"modified":"2023-04-29T23:51:35","modified_gmt":"2023-04-29T23:51:35","slug":"comforting-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1075","title":{"rendered":"\u201cComforting Others\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Absorbing God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,\u00a0the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,\u00a0who comforts us\u00a0in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.\u201d 2 Corinthians 1:3-4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, I made a routine business call to a customer I\u2019ve had for almost forty years. I asked how everything was going with family and work. Ed answered, \u201cMy wife Linda passed away a few days ago, Jack.\u201d His answer sucked all the air out of me and there was silence on both ends of the phone. The next thing to be heard was two men crying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted to be strong, but I couldn\u2019t hold back my feelings. We both tried to talk, but our tears said it all. He and Linda had been high school sweethearts. He knew I had lost my wife Joanne and now he had lost his wife. I was finally able to compose myself long enough to pray with Ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The one thing that touched me when Joanne died, was the incredible love, comfort and time others afforded me.
