{"id":1188,"date":"2024-09-01T05:48:56","date_gmt":"2024-09-01T05:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1188"},"modified":"2024-09-01T05:48:56","modified_gmt":"2024-09-01T05:48:56","slug":"a-house-divided","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1188","title":{"rendered":"\u201cA House Divided\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Absorbing God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJesus knew their thoughts\u00a0and said to them,\u00a0\u201cEvery kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.\u201d Matthew 12:25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus uses the word \u201cEVERY\u201d two times in the scripture above. When I read this verse, I think of this divided world, our divided country, our divided states, our divided cities, our divided neighborhoods and our divided families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I get a kick out of folks who ask, \u201cWhere\u2019s God and how come He\u2019s not doing something about all this?\u201d God hasn\u2019t left the scene. He gave each of us free will and the empowerment of His Holy Spirit to be governed by His truth . That\u2019s the beauty of God, huh? He gives us guidelines to live by and yet all too often we close a blind eye to them. To govern ourselves takes work but unfortunately we are a lazy people. We would much rather be governed by other worldly gods or by the people who worship those gods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to govern myself, I stay in God\u2019s word and absorb as much of His truth as I can possibly process. The first thing I do when dealing with division in my own life is I look in a mirror. That\u2019s where it all starts.
