{"id":1227,"date":"2025-02-15T23:31:22","date_gmt":"2025-02-15T23:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2025-02-15T23:35:24","modified_gmt":"2025-02-15T23:35:24","slug":"gods-knocking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=1227","title":{"rendered":"\u201cGod\u2019s Knocking\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Absorbing God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor God so loved&nbsp;the world that he gave&nbsp;his one and only Son,&nbsp;that whoever believes&nbsp;in him shall not perish but have eternal life.\u201d John 3:16<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What that says to me personally is, \u201cGod so loved Jack that God gave His only Son, Jesus, so Jack could have eternal life. Unfortunately, believing in God hasn\u2019t always been easy for me. Due to childhood hurts and abuse, there seemed to be very little evidence that God was real, or that if He was He didn\u2019t love me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the years passed, I worshipped the things of this world and surrounded myself with other earthly Gods. One day, though, I looked in the mirror and didn\u2019t like the forty year old man looking back at me. That man was filled with pride and selfishness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I knew that God was knocking at the door of my heart, but I was too ashamed to let God in. God\u2019s persistence prevailed and I &nbsp;surrendered. That was April of 1987 on a CIC\/WorkLight Men\u2019s Retreat. God\u2019s been using me to present that retreat to hundreds of men ever since. I\u2019m presenting another one March 28<sup>th<\/sup> and 29<sup>th<\/sup> in Palm Desert, California.
