I check my motivation by asking myself the tough questions. Am I working for God or for Jack? Am I measuring what I do against the service someone else is doing? Am I happy about the work God has called me to? I ask these questions because I’ve found that my service isn’t always purely motivated.

Let’s face it, I/we have been raised to look for recognition and applause. How then can one transition away from being wrongfully motivated into a more truthful service for God? For me, it’s having a heightened awareness of God’s presence in the work He’s assigned. It doesn’t have to be something large or visible. He just has to be present in the work without a trace of my own EGO involved. By the way, EGO is also an acronym for Easing God Out.

Recently, I was asked to speak to a group of Christian businessmen and businesswomen. I responded by saying “I would first have to ask God.” By doing this, I give myself time to check my motivation and hear from God.

Accounting of God’s Word

Is my service to God wrongly motivated? Is the service I perform truthfully supplying the needs of God’s people and overflowing with many expressions of thanks to Him?

Absorbing God’s Word “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God” 2 Corinthians 9:12 Applying God’s Word I can tell if my service … Continue reading →

[1

post-511","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
