\u201cThis service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God\u201d 2 Corinthians 9:12<\/p>\n

Applying God’s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can tell if my service is Godly, by checking my motivation. I check my motivation by asking myself the tough questions. Am I working for God or for Jack? Am I measuring what I do against the service someone else is doing? Am I happy about the work God has called me to? I ask these questions because I\u2019ve found that my service isn\u2019t always purely motivated.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it, I\/we have been raised to look for recognition and applause. How then can one transition away from being wrongfully motivated into a more truthful service for God? For me, it’s having a heightened awareness of God\u2019s presence in the work He\u2019s assigned. It doesn’t have to be something large or visible. He just has to be present in the work without a trace of my own EGO involved. By the way, EGO is also an acronym for Easing God Out.<\/p>\n

Recently, I was asked to speak to a group of Christian businessmen and businesswomen. I responded by saying \u201cI would first have to ask God.\u201d By doing this, I give myself time to check my motivation and hear from God.<\/p>\n
