{"id":527,"date":"2017-04-08T20:06:49","date_gmt":"2017-04-08T20:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=527"},"modified":"2017-04-08T20:06:49","modified_gmt":"2017-04-08T20:06:49","slug":"mark-631-get-away-with-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=527","title":{"rendered":"Mark 6:31 \u2013 \u201cGet Away With God\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Absorbing God&#8217;s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,\u00a0he said to them,\u00a0\u201cCome with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.\u201d Mark 6:31<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applying God&#8217;s Word<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One thing I find to be most difficult is to detach myself from the dictates and expectations of this world. I cannot possibly claim to know God or know what His purpose is for me, unless I am willing to spend time with Him.<\/p>\n<p>In April of 1987, I was busier than a termite in a sawmill. A good friend invited me to go away for a spiritual weekend. Without any questions, I said, \u201cYes.\u201d Even the name \u201cChallenge Weekend\u201d did not deter me.<\/p>\n<p>My decision to get away with God for two days did not change me, but it did challenge me to change. I left with a renewed passion to meet with God each morning in prayer and to meditate on His \u201cWord\u201d. I have been doing that ever since, through good times and bad.<\/p>\n<p>I have participated in numerous Christians in Commerce Challenge Weekends, so that other men and women could realize the benefits of getting away with God, also.<\/p>\n<p>I will be attending another CIC Men\u2019s Weekend this month (4-21 to 4-23) to mark my thirtieth anniversary.
