Crucify!\u201d?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Absorbing God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut they cried, saying, crucify him, crucify him.\u201d Luke 23:21<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are so easily swayed to a majority judgement, huh? Remember the old saying, \u201cDon&#8217;t\u00a0throw the baby out with the bathwater\u201d? It refers to something good being eliminated along with something bad.<\/p>\n<p>One of the largest churches in the world is under a microscope right now over child abuse. I am very sympathetic to the victims and agree that everything possible should be done to address the crimes inflicted. I was abused as a child. Should I join the group screaming, \u201cCrucify! Crucify!\u201d? I think not.<\/p>\n<p>Louise and I have taken this to prayer. We realize that, like every other Christian community with similar problems, the perpetrators will come to justice one way or another. They represent about 4% of the Church\u2019s population of clergy, which means there\u2019s almost 400,000 innocent and faithfully committed clergy still serving the church.<\/p>\n<p>This church has had other dark times over the last 2,000 years, but so have many other churches. \u00a0This church, however, continues to feed, clothe, house, educate, care for, and minister to more people in the world\u00a0than any other church in history.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, \u201cLet any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.\u201d John 8:7<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accounting of God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Am I with the crowd that screams \u201cCrucify, Crucify\u201d?
