{"id":864,"date":"2020-11-20T02:15:16","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T02:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=864"},"modified":"2020-11-20T02:15:16","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T02:15:16","slug":"the-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.act-ministries.org\/blog\/?p=864","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Draft\u201d?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Absorbing God Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor I know the plans I have for you,\u201d declares the LORD, \u201cplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.\u201d Jeremiah 29:11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applying God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Thanksgiving coming up, I found myself recalling moments that I look back on with incredible gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was about this time of the year in 1964, when I received my military draft notice. I had just graduated high school. I was still a kid, but I now awakened to the reality that I was old enough to go to war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I remember sitting in my bedroom staring at the notice through tears. I was angry and frightened. My father entered the room, sat down next to me and put his arm around me. He said, \u201cJack. I want you to go down and enlist in the Navy.\u201d It was his way of protecting me from being drafted into the Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If God ever had an audible voice, He used it to speak wisdom through my dad. I did exactly what my dad suggested.
