I was probably malnourished, due to poor eating habits. In my defense, I struggled swallowing things like meat, and rice had to have milk and sugar on it. There was no diagnosis for my problem, back then. Instead, I was punished for not eating the food that was served. I was in my late teens when the condition disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My twelve-year-old granddaughter, Caramia, has been in the hospital since before Christmas with the same fear of swallowing. They gave this condition a name in 2013. It\u2019s called Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) previously referred to as \u201cSelective Eating Disorder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pray with Caramia in the hospital, via FaceTime. She loves to pray.
