“Open Up”

Absorbing God’s Word

“The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you; I don’t know you.” Matthew 25: 10-12

Applying God’s Word

My parents were very close to Jesus. They weren’t just involved in good works at their church and community. Each had their own intimate relationship with Jesus. They prayed daily for their five children to have that same friendship with God, because they didn’t want us to arrive at the banquet too late.

Now I find myself praying those same prayers for my own family and friends. I don’t want anyone to face a closed door or hear our Lord say, “I don’t know you.”

Telling God that my mom, dad, sister, brother, or best friend have an intimate relationship with Him, will not open the door to heaven for me. I need to know Jesus personally myself.

Accounting of God’s Word

If Jesus came back today, would He say, “I don’t know you?”
