“Keep Sanding”

Absorbing God’s Word

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5

Applying God’s Word

Jesus’ definition of meek is a person who has power and chooses to exercise it with gentleness, humility, and patience for the good of others and for God’s glory. Father Mike Schmitz, says, “Meekness is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less”

Patience for the good of others isn’t always one of my strengths. It’s one of my weaknesses that annoy me the most. Growing up, I found myself getting impatient with my dad at times. My dad was a house painter. I begged him to let me paint, but he said, “Keep sanding, son. You’re an incredible sander.” “Dad. I want to paint.” “You will son. You will.” “When dad?” My dad wasn’t an educated man, but he taught me the importance of being patient and what it means to be a good support person. God’s empowerment to be supportive through patience has impacted every aspect of my own life and the lives of many that God has asked me to support.

Accounting of God’s Word

“What annoys me most about some of my weaknesses? Am I inheriting the earth through meekness and for the Glory of God?
