Matthew 8:24-25 – “My Little Boat” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Matthew 8:24-25

Applying God’s Word

When I look back through the numerous situations I’ve encountered in my life, I can see where anxiety and fear blocked out any hope of trusting Jesus. It didn’t stop me from demanding He save me, though.

What I’ve come to realize is that Jesus may not be visibly present when my world is engulfed in turmoil, but His grace is. It’s grace that sustains me when the waves appear bigger than my little boat and grace that ushers in renewed hope.

That’s why God asks us to be available for others who are in the middle of a storm. He’s instilled His grace in each of us for that purpose. Our caring and compassion for one another is the grace that ushers in renewed hope.

I prayed with a young man recently who experienced both God’s grace and renewed hope.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I available to be God’s grace for another person.
