Ephesians 1:13-14 – “Guarantees” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14

Applying God’s Word

I remember when a person could guarantee something by a handshake or their word. Guarantees are rarely given without some sort of proof, a holding deposit, a driver’s license, or a signed contract. Recently, I placed a 7% deposit down on a new home and then another 25% deposit down for upgrades. The paperwork I had to sign as a guarantee was crazy.

The above scripture offers us a guarantee of God’s Holy Spirit and a deposit on our inheritance. I guess the question is, “Do we believe and trust God?” I have to say that I really did not have 100% belief until I experienced the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit.

Now I believe God’s promises and guarantees. God’s contract is His written “Word”. His guarantee is the seal of His Holy Spirit.

Accounting of God’s Word

Do I believe God’s word? Have I allowed His Holy Spirit to use me?
