Matthew 11:5 – “His Eyes”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.” Matthew 11:5

Applying God’s Word

This scripture is a description of my spiritual life. Prior to a relationship with Jesus, I didn’t understand what it meant to see what He sees or hear what He hears. I was spiritually blind and deaf. I was crippled by chasing after the things of the world and surrounded by the filth of my own humanness.

Along came Jesus who touched me with His Holy Spirit. By doing so, my sight and ability to hear were restored. I was also cleansed of the leprosy of sin that had kept me from being healed and empowered. I was the poor man that a few other men risked proclaiming the good news to.

So, I am no longer dead. I have been empowered to give sight to the blind, ears to the deaf, heal the lame, and cleanse the unclean. I am called to preach the good news; to give life to those who are spiritually dead.

 Accounting of God’s Word

Have I allowed Jesus to open my eyes to a new way of living?
