“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:12-13

Applying God’s Word 

We all get our share of hurts, disappointments and moments when our faith is challenge; I have. If you’ve been reading the Challenge for a while, you are aware of that. I know that my strength to get through tough times comes from God, though.

A few weeks ago, our family went to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Santa Rosa. They lost their home in the fire and know the difference between having plenty and being in need. They are starting all over from scratch.

My wife and I felt helpless, as we drove by hundreds of empty lots that used to have homes on them. It was overwhelming, to say the least. My sister’s family doesn’t need our financial support, but do need of our emotional and spiritual support. That’s what we brought to share with them.

God is very much part of the recovery efforts in Santa Rosa. He is the secret of being content in any and every situation.
