“Seen and Unseen”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

Applying God’s Word

My family was supposed to be on a week’s vacation together over Easter break. In May, we were going to attend multiple events with our children and grandchildren, including several birthdays, a senior graduation and a confirmation. Today, as I think about it, would have been the Golden Wedding Anniversary (50) for my late wife Joanne and I.

Everything I’ve listed are things I had fixed my eyes on, without giving much thought to the things I couldn’t see or plan on. I hadn’t planned on Joanne’s death six years ago nor did I give much thought to being married again. I didn’t know that Covid19 would swoop down and crush our family plans or the plans of folks all around the world.

It’s a reminder to all of us that what is seen is temporary while what is unseen is eternal.

Accounting of God’s Word

When my plans are crushed, do I throw in the towel or trust that God’s plan is being fulfilled?
