“Special Connection”

Absorbing God’s Word

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

Applying God’s Word

I’ve been asked so many times which church community I belong to. Most folks are a little surprised when I say that I attend a small conservative Catholic church.

At age seven, I received my Holy Communion. It was one of my most memorable experiences as a young boy. Becoming an alter server a couple years later made receiving communion even more meaningful. That in turn inspired me to join the Franciscan Seminary at Old Mission Santa Barbara, for one year.

God has blessed me by allowing me to worship with Christians of various denominations in many different churches. By doing so, He has given me a great deal of admiration for Christians around the world. At times, I’ve even found the music and preaching in other churches to be superior to that of my own church. For me, however, there is still that special connection between myself and the consecrated Eucharist. It’s more powerful now than ever.

It hasn’t been easy being Catholic, but it’s one of the places God has asked me to serve Him. A wise man once said, “Look for a church that is unpopular with the spirit of the world.”

Applying God’s Word

Is the church I’m attending the one God has sent me to serve in?
