James 4:14 – “Don’t Waste Them”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” James 4:14

Applying God’s Word

In chapter #22 of Matthew Kelly’s book “Resisting Happiness”, he talks about wasting Sundays. He says that the average life expectancy for a male in America is 76 and for a woman it is 81 years of age. Therefore, each person can experience anywhere from 3,952 to 4,212 Sundays during their life.

If I live to age seventy-six, I will only see about 299 more Sundays. I have had seasons when I have looked at Sundays as just the seventh day of the week. Sundays are very special to me these days. They are a time of reflection, reaching out to others in need, gathering with folks at church and spending time with family and/or friends.

Matthew says, “If you don’t waste Sunday’s, you will be less likely to waste any other day of the week.”

Accounting of God’s Word

Do I know how many Sundays I have left? How am I spending them?
