Jeremiah 7:24 – “God’s Ears”

Absorbing God’s Word

“But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts.” Jeremiah 7:24

Applying God’s Word

It is so difficult to find anyone who will truly listen, these days. God wonders if anyone is listening to Him. I really appreciate when folks listen to me. I want to sense that what I have to say is important. My own selfishness keeps me from being a good listener for others.

Recently, I was meditating on the scripture above. As soon as I finished my meditation, a friend called, distraught over the passing of a loved one. He was looking for someone with God’s ear. How blessed I was that he chose me. I offered no advice, but listened to my friend with my heart.

Godly listening is hard to do through e-mail communications or a post on Facebook. I would rather listen to someone in person or at least hear his or her voice on the phone.

Accounting of God’s Word

When was the last time we were God’s ears for another person? When was the last time someone else was God’s ears for us?
