Proverbs 11:2 – “Jelly Glasses”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom”. Proverbs 11:2

 Applying God’s Word

Sweet “Wisdom” keep me humble and not prideful about anything, including the work I do for our God.

Growing up was somewhat humbling for me, because our family struggled financially. I didn’t know what I didn’t have until I went to visit homes of other families.

I have an old second grade school picture showing me in a pair of torn jeans. All the other kids had their Sunday best on. I had hand-me-down shoes with cardboard on the inside that prevented my socks from getting wet.

My favorite though is drinking out of jelly glasses. I thought they were cool. We would pop the lids and eat the jelly. After emptying them out, mom washed them and used them for glasses.

The half dozen jelly glasses I keep in our kitchen cabinet today remind me that pride precedes the fall and that being humble is something lived out.

Accounting of God’s Word

Do I have any jelly glasses in my cabinet? ;>)
