Ecclesiastes 3: 1 & 4 & 5 – “Time For Embracing”

Absorbing God’s Word

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.” Ecclesiastes 3: 1 & 4 & 5

Applying God’s Word

The restaurant was crowded. Artie was the only server in the whole place that day, so getting food to go made sense to me.

I had made Artie’s acquaintance several years ago when I started frequenting this establishment. As he rushed by me to serve others, he rolled his eyes and we both laughed. I said, “No worries, Artie. I’m in no hurry.”

When he took my order, I asked, “How are your wedding plans going.”? He shared that his fiancé had been ill. His eyes teared up. He said, “Spending the money to get her better is more important than the wedding.”

Hearing that and seeing Artie’s expression, I became noticeably emotional. So, we just stared into one another’s eyes, enjoying the presence of God. We threw our arms around one another and stood in the that crowded restaurant as though no one else was there. It was a time for embracing.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I genuinely interested in other people or am I consumed with self-interests?
