Mark 3:33 & 35 – “Favoritism” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked? Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” Mark 3:33 & 35

Applying God’s Word

Our relatives who may not be followers of Jesus, could take offense to Jesus words above, huh? What’s he saying to me?

Jesus isn’t discounting the love I have for my blood relatives. He’s merely saying that there’s another family that He values just as much; His family of believers.

My parents and older brother are gone. I am surrounded by a large family of Christ’s followers, one sister, two brothers, relatives, friends and strangers. Jesus expects me to love them all the same; the way He does.

Accounting of God’s Word

Does my love show favoritism or discriminate? Who are my mother, my sisters and my brothers? Who have I removed from my list?
