1 Peter 1:14-16 – “The Biggest Lie”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16

Applying God’s Word

I just finished another GREAT book by Matthew Kelly titled “The Biggest Lie in the History of Christianity”. He says the lie we buy into is that “Holiness Isn’t Possible. It’s the lie Satan and our world uses to slowly pull us away from the love of God.

The thought of becoming holy can be overwhelming, but Matthew Kelly says if we each concentrate on “Holy Moments” we can change this lie into truth; by doing so God can change the world through us.

The definition of being holy is “Set Apart”. If there’s hope for someone like me to live a life that is set apart, there’s hope for everyone. I am not holy around the clock, but I do have moments when my life reflects the image of God.

I know we can turn this lie around by living “Holy Moments”. That’s exactly what Peter means when he says, “So, be holy in all you do.”

Accounting of God’s Word

Have I thrown in the towel? Will I get up each day and give God a chance to use me for one more “Holy Moment”?
