“All The Wrong Places” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?” Matthew 2: 1-2

Applying God’s Word

The Magi went to Jerusalem, thinking that’s where they would find the newborn king of the Jews. Wrong! They were even more surprised when they found Jesus in an environment not fit for a king.

I can relate to the Magi. There was a time when I thought I’d only find Jesus in the big fancy churches or in certain groups of influential people. Wrong!

Instead, I find Jesus when I help clothe the poor and feed the hungry. I find Him in churches that are struggling to keep the lights on and the doors open. I find Him when I’m praying with the sick or exchanging hugs with a homeless person. I find Him inside myself when I’m not self-consumed or distracted by this world. I often find Jesus when I’m not looking for Him, even in all the wrong places.

Accounting of God’s Word

Are my eyes and heart open to where Jesus wants me to find Him? Have I stopped looking?
