“Paranoid or Prepared”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.” Matthew 25:2-4

Applying God’s Word

The word “Paranoid” suggest that I would be extremely fearful. On the other hand, the word “Prepared” suggests that I would be in a state of readiness.

I like being as prepared as possible. Much of that thinking comes from my time in the Navy. They drilled us constantly on being prepared so that we would not be caught off guard or surprised.

I’m pretty sure that the Covid19 Virus has opened our eyes to the fact that, individually and as a country, we were not prepared. Even when we are prepared materialistically, there’s a good chance we may not be prepared spiritually. Times like these, make me take a closer look at my list of priorities.

Accounting of God’s Word

Is God first on my list? Do I give God time each day while there is still plenty of oil in my lamp?
