“The Five”

Absorbing God Word

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

Applying God’s Word

Over the years, God has introduced me to some incredible young men and women. I remember Him introducing me to five men that attended the same church. They were all single, excited about the future and uniquely gifted. Little did I know that God would turn those initial encounters into lifelong friendships.

Their enthusiasm for life was infectious back then and it still is. Michael, Randy, John, Roland, and Paul signed up to be soldiers in Jesus army, without really knowing much about the enemies they would face. That is something we all learn about as we charge into battle spreading and defending God’s truth.

The five and I have been friends now for thirty years. Although, we have all fought the enemy on different fronts, we’ve been encouraged by each other’s support, knowing that the other five are still in it to win it.

I’m so proud of these five men and confident that “He who began a good work” in them “Will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I still in it to win it for Jesus? Is the thing that God began in me still at work?
