Luke 6:12-13 – “Scrappers”

Absorbing God’s Word

“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles.” Luke 6:12-13

Applying God’s Word

Jesus spent the night praying about which disciples would become his apostles. Look at the diverse group of men He chose. They were not the best of the best, the elite, the smartest or the most physically fit. Jesus formed a team of scrappers; men He thought would be teachable, passionate, available and committed to His purpose.

The men Jesus chose did not follow Him perfectly and neither do I. There is a lifetime learning curve involved in following Jesus. I have come to understand that daily prayer, ongoing repentance and the empowerment of His Holy Spirit are critical. Those few things have allowed me to become teachable, passionate, available and committed to His purpose.

I am a “Scrapper” also. Enjoy the link below about “Scrappers”.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I a Scrapper? Am I teachable, passionate, available and committed to Jesus?
