Amos 9:11 & 14 – “My Sister’s House Is Gone”

Absorbing God’s Word

“In that day, I will restore David’s fallen shelter, repair its broken walls, restore its ruins and rebuild it as it used to be…They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine.” Amos 9:11 & 14

Applying God’s Word

Thousands of people have suffered great losses the last couple months; the shooting in Vegas, the hurricane’s in Puerto Rico and now the fire storms in California.

My own sister and brother-in-law escaped the fires in Santa Rosa Ca., with two cars and two dogs. Unfortunately, they lost their newly remodeled home and everything in it.

The other night, I was overwhelmed by the sadness of it all. My wife Louise handed me the bible. She said, “Pick any page and read.” I flipped the bible open to the book of Amos, chapter 9 verse 11 (above) and began to read. Some would say, “A coincidence.” When that happens to me, I believe it’s the voice of God speaking clear as ever.

God has no doubt been hearing from believers and non-believers this past month or two. Many will blame Him for all that they lost, but few will give Him credit for all that He saved. God is on our side, but there is an enemy who isn’t.

Accounting of God’s Word

What is God asking me to do to help Him help others who are hurting?
