Romans 12:13 – “I’m Hungry”

Absorbing God’s Word

“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality”. Romans 12:13

Applying God’s Word

Darrell was sitting outside of a store repeating these words, “I’m hungry”. My wife Louise said, “Come inside with us and we will buy you some food. He said, “What I really need is a bar of soap.” Louise said, “We will get you that, also.

Darrell, stood up, smiled, shook our hands and said, “Thank you for your kindness.” We grabbed a basket and walked up and down the isles with him. Every time Darrell saw something he needed, he looked at us and asked permission to get it. Finally, he said, “That’s it”.

At check-out, Darrell grabbed the two bags of food, thanked us again and walked out of the store. The store clerk asked, “Did you just buy that man’s groceries”? She smiled and said, “That’s awesome.”

All of us will have opportunities to help someone in need this Christmas.

Accounting of God’s Word

“Have I been hospitable to those in need? Am I thankful for those who have been hospitable to me when I’ve been in need?
