Romans 15:13 – “Hope”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Applying God’s Word

The thing I most appreciate about Christmas is that it finds so many avenues of restoring hope in the worst of times.

The toughest Christmases for me have been the ones right after the loss of a loved-one or close friend. Christmas day after my dad died and the one after our grandson Niccolo died were hard. Then there was my mom’s death on Christmas day of 2014, five months after the death of my late wife Joanne. My older brother Jim died two months later.

I wasn’t really filled with much joy and peace back then, but my trust in God seemed to be stronger than ever. I snuggled up to Jesus and waited with new hope.

It’s Christmas of 2017 and I’m blessed to be married again. Louise has been a vehicle of God’s love and hope to me. My prayer for each of us is to not lose “HOPE”. Hope is a priceless gift to get or give any day of the year, but especially on Christmas.

Accounting of God’s Word

Merry Christmas! Give Hope for Christmas.
