Thessalonians 4:14 “Two Gifts” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”  Thessalonians 4:14

Applying God’s Word

In the early 1980’s, I decided to have my friend’s wife do my colors. All my clothes were either brown or tan. When Barbara placed the color wheel around my face she smiled and said, “You are a soft summer.” You should replace all your brown clothes with blues, mauves, pinks and greens. So, I did what she said and never wore brown again. Barbara passed away a couple weeks ago. What a delight she was to her family and everyone who encountered her.

Twenty years ago, I was being treated for a deep muscle tear on the left side of my back. I accepted an invitation to a Healing Service, not expecting to be healed. One of the men conducting the Service was named Laurian. He knew nothing about my pain let alone where it was. He reached over my shoulder, touch the injured part of my back and asked, “Is the pain gone?” The pain was gone and it never came back. Laurian passed away last week. He was a farmer all his life, but never missed an opportunity to share God’s healing touch with someone in need, even if it meant getting off his tractor to do so. He had a huge heart, but his faith in God was even bigger than that.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I allowing God to use my life to touch others?
