Psalm 150: 1 & 4 – “Spreading God’s Love” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Praise the Lord; praise him with timbrel and dancing.” Psalm 150: 1 & 4

Applying God’s Word

What’s a “Timbrel”? I had to look it up. It’s a percussion instrument resembling a modern-day tambourine.

Louise and I were having lunch in a small café. We noticed that the music playing in the background would be fun to dance to. Was God asking us to dance or was it just us?

We struck up a conversation with the woman in the booth next to us, explained that we had only been married a couple of years and met dancing. Laughing, we said, “We almost danced to that last song.” She said, “Please. Would you please dance? I’d love it.” The waitress gave us a big thumbs-up, too.

This one is for You, Lord. We got up and danced in the middle of that restaurant. The woman and others were filled with joy while the waitress videoed the event; a first at this café.

Sometimes, God wants us to praise Him in public to bring His joy to others.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I embarrassed to praise God at church or in public? Do I shout His name as loud as I do my favorite athlete or rock star?
