“Garbage Night”

Absorbing God Word

“The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” Acts 23:11

Applying God’s Word

We will never run out of opportunities to share Jesus with someone else. We may not be in Jerusalem or Rome, but the Holy Spirit will use us right where we are.

It was garbage night and I was late in getting my containers out to the curb. My neighbor was doing the same thing. She waived, came across the street and immediately shared her discouragement over her recent medical issues. An anointing surrounded me as I said, “I’m going to pray for you.” She said, “Oh no. That’s okay. I’m fine.” I said, “God just told me to pray for you.” That’s when she closed her eyes.

It was a holy moment for both of us. She opened her eyes and said, “I didn’t realize how much I needed that prayer. Thank you.” I smiled. I was late with the garbage cans, but right on time for God’s work.

Accounting of God’s Word

Are my eyes open for brief encounters of the very best kind? Am I missing opportunities to let God use me?
