“Running Aimlessly”

Absorbing God Word

“Therefore, I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:26-27

Applying God’s Word

We watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It puzzles me to think that so many countries can be united with one another every four years, but so divided the rest of the time. Maybe it’s because the rest of the world doesn’t train as hard as these athletes do,

These incredible men and women may not take home a medal, but they will know that their tireless training won them an opportunity to unite the world, even if only for a short time.

My spiritual life requires a commitment to training, also. I can’t show up once a week to build spiritual strength. I have to make my body my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. Our spiritual muscles need continuous exercise in order to finish strong.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I running aimlessly? Do I fight like a boxer beating the air?
